چکیده

A 37-year-old man presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain and shock. He underwent endovascular embolization for splenic arterial aneurysm rupture caused by Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, which had been confirmed by genetic testing three years prior. Computed tomography showed an intra-abdominal hemorrhage, celiac arterial aneurysm, and embolic coils in the splenic artery (Picture 1, white and black arrows and arrowhead, respectively). Emergency angiography also showed a celiac arterial aneurysm without contrast extravasation and an embolic coil in the splenic artery (Picture 2, black and white arrows, respectively). The successful occlusion of the celiac artery aneurysm and its branches was achieved using Interlock Fibered IDC coils (Boston Scientific, Natick, MA, USA) (Picture 3). The patient was discharged on postoperative day 17 without abdominal organ ischemia. Arterial aneurysm rupture is a life-threatening complication of vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (1). Arterial aneurysm rupture can occur repeatedly; therefore, long-term follow-up is necessary with β1antagonist administration and regular non-invasive imaging examinations (1, 2).

Life-Saving Embolization in a Patient with Recurrent Shock Due to a Type II Endoleak after Endovascular Aortic Repair for a Ruptured Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm.

A man in his 80s underwent urgent endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) for a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm (RAAA). Surgery was completed without apparent complications, and the patient was returned to the Cardiac Care Unit. Two hours later, he again developed shock, and contrast-enhanced Computed Tomography showed extravasation from a type II endoleak (T2EL) involving the IMA. Transcatheter a...

Lessons from Animal Models of Arterial Aneurysm.

We review the results from the most common animal models of arterial aneurysm, including recent findings from our novel, laparoscopy-based pig model of abdominal aortic aneurysm, that contribute important insights into early pathogenesis. We emphasize the relevance of these findings for evaluation of treatment protocols and novel device prototypes for mechanism-based prevention of progression a...

Renal Artery Rupture in Association With Fibromuscular Dysplasia

Fibromuscular dysplasia is a noninflammatory arteriopathy of unknown etiology that affects medium-sized arteries. Although patients affected with it are often asymptomatic, some might have recurrent catastrophic events that depend mainly on the arterial bed involved. The most worrisome vascular complications of the disease are aneurysmal rupture and arterial dissection. Herein, we report a case...

Hemosuccus pancreaticus associated with segmental arterial mediolysis successfully treated by transarterial embolization.

CONTEXT Hemosuccus pancreaticus, a rare cause of intermittent upper gastrointestinal bleeding, is usually caused by the rupture of an aneurysm associated with chronic pancreatitis. Segmental arterial mediolysis is a rare non-arteriosclerotic, non-inflammatory vascular disease characterized by vacuolization and lysis of the arterial smooth muscle cells. Segmental arterial mediolysis often causes...
